PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

This Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resource Management provides students with a strong grounding in the fundamentals of Human Resource Management. It equips students with competencies for working effectively and efficiently in a human resource management environment.
This qualification prepares students for a career in Human Resource Management as well as provides a basis for further study in Industrial Psychology. The systemic focus aims to integrate human resource functions into the organisations’ business processes using best practices.
A secondary purpose is to provide a convenient and appropriate avenue into Human Resource Management studies and eventually gainful employment for students coming straight out of school.

ASSESSMENT

The final assessment mark for each module consists of an assignment (40 %) and a written examination (60 %). Examinations are written at the end of each semester.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Either a Pass in 3 subjects at A level and 1 subject at Subsidiary level at HSC Or Pass in 2 subjects at A level and 2 subject at Subsidiary level at HSC Or Pass in 3 Subject at A level at the London General Certificate

 

MODE OF DELIVERY

This programme is offered through Full-Time, supported distance learning mode and blended mode of delivery.

School leavers who wish to pursue a career in Human Resource Management.
• Current human resource officers who wish to enhance their skills to ensure they attain managerial competencies.
• Business owners or entrepreneurs who wish to manage their workforce.

 

 STUDENT SUPPORT

The programme is delivered through supported distance learning. Workshops are held each semester to support students in their studies. A study guide accompanies each module. The guide includes compulsory readings, self-study activities, tutorial letters and assessment exercises. In addition, students have access to online journals, past examination papers and supplementary learning materials available on the website.

Upon completion of this programme, the student should be able to:
• Demonstrate the applied competence in the field of Human Resource Management.
• Apply a systemic focus to the Human Resource Management function within an organisation.
• Demonstrate an understanding of how to co-ordinate and manage core Human Resource Management processes at an operational level.
• Apply the basic theoretical principles of problem solving within the fields of business and Human Resource Management.
• Design, conduct and evaluate basic research on Human Resource Management issues.
• Understand and interpret the ethical, legal and professional principles of Industrial Psychology and Human Resource Management.
• Acquire acceptable employment seeking skills for entry into the field of Human Resource and Business Management.
