PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

This Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing Management is an undergraduate qualification that prepares students for professional careers within the marketing field (including industry, government and business departments). The programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical application that is relevant and responsive to the needs of industry in Mauritius and Internationally. The degree will provide graduates for careers in commerce, industry and government.

The programme develops a conceptual understanding of marketing issues, theories and approaches for making a career in Marketing Management. A secondary purpose is to provide a convenient and appropriate avenue into marketing management studies and eventually gainful employment for students coming straight out of school.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

Either a Pass in 3 subjects at A level and 1 subject at Subsidiary level at HSC Or Pass in 2 subjects at A level and 2 subject at Subsidiary level at HSC Or Pass in 3 Subject at A level at the London General Certificate

 

MODE OF DELIVERY

 

Full time and Supported distance learning.

 

ASSESSMENT

 

The final assessment mark for each module consists of an assignment (50 %) and a written examination (50 %). Examinations are written at the end of each semester.

• Current marketers who wish to expand their marketing knowledge and explore new areas and strategies of marketing.
• Business owners or entrepreneurs who wish to start marketing their SMME’s to a larger audience.

 

STUDENT SUPPORT

 

The programme is delivered through supported distance learning. Workshops are held each semester to support students in their studies. A study guide accompanies each module. The guide includes compulsory readings, self-study activities, tutorial letters and assessment exercises. In addition, students have access to online journals, past examination papers and supplementary learning materials available on the website.

Upon completion of this programme, the student should be able to:
• Demonstrate and apply practical and theoretical knowledge of marketing management.
• Execute marketing research projects.
• Analyse consumer behaviour and consumer decision making.
• Analyse, interpret, write and design the contents of mass media for marketing.
• Demonstrate and integrate theoretical and practical knowledge of business strategic and marketing management principles.
• Analyse the micro, market and macro environment of an enterprise as it applies to marketing.
• Formulate and implement appropriate marketing strategies.
• Implement marketing research and strategic marketing planning models.
• Market products and services nationally and internationally.
